Shirring Elastic Tape, Black

This elastic tape is the ultimate shirring hack!  Simply sew it to the reverse side of your fabric using standard thread then set with a light steam.  Too easy! 

Quality shirring elastic is held together in a soft mesh.
Stretches approx 2 x length. 
Made in Japan.  Nylon - 75%, Polyurethane - 25%

Tips for sewing:

• Cutting a little more  than you need (approx 10cm), this gives you something to hold while stretching the elastic as you sew.  
• Use sew all thread (including bobbin), straight stitch 2.5mm, normal tension
• Sew between elastic cords - you are sewing the mesh, not the elastic.
• Secure ends into a seam, overlock. 
• Suitable for cuffs, waist bands, and more
• Lightly steam after sewing - it will contract by approx 8-10% and will further define the gathers/shirring. 

Available in Black or White 

We've been asked if this aggravates the skin - while we can't answer this on behalf of others, in our opinion the tape is only marginally more noticeable to touch than shirring using standard shirring elastic. White variant is slightly softer than black as it hasn't been dyed.  We recommend you conduct your own tests in this regard.
