The Festival Dress is worked from the top down. The neck edge is folded and knitted together, and short rows are worked to shape the neckline. After this, increases are worked evenly distributed down the circular yoke. The stripes are worked in a technique which creates small bobbles.

Yarn: 4ply/Fingering

Meterage:  150 (150) 150 (200) 200 (250) 250 (300) g 4ply/fingering weight yarn (50 g = 235 m) in the main colour,
approx. 25 (30) 30 (35) 35 (45) 55 (60) g for the stripes.

Size: 6-9 months (9-12 months) 1-2 years (2-3 years) 3-4 years (4-5 years) 5-6 years (6-7 years)

Needles: Begin by working a swatch to determine which needle size you need to achieve the correct gauge. Remember to wash your swatch before measuring the gauge

Circular needles: 2.5 mm [US1½] / 40, 80 and/or 100 cm and 3 mm [US2½] / 40 and/or 60 cm 

Double-pointed needles: 2.5 mm [US1½] and 3 mm [US2½]

Gauge: 28 sts x 40 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches] in stockinette stitch on 3 mm [US2½] needles
