This knitting pattern is quite possibly the cutest wee bonnet for little people (approx 0-6 year olds) . The bonnet is a whimsical design featuring animal ears - choose between a fox, lamb or fawn. Or opt for a classic and simple look by omitting the ears.
- The bonnet is knit flat to begin, and then the stitches are joined and worked in the round for the crown shaping.
- The ties are made from an I-cord applied to the neck edge.
- Ears are knit separately in the round on dpns and sewn to the top of the hat after the hat is complete.
Yarn: Double Knit/8ply yarn
Meterage: Approximately 77 (95, 110, 135, 150, 168)m of dk weight yarn
Size: 0-3m (3-6m, 6-12m, 1-2yr, 3-4yr, 5-6yr)
Finished Measurements: Head Circumference 15" (16", 17", 18", 19", 20)"
Needles: US 5 - 3.75 mm and US 4 - 3.5 mm 40cm circular needles. Set of 3.75mm DPNs
Gauge: 24 stitches and 32 rows/rounds = 10 x 10cm in Stockinette Stitch
Level: Advanced Beginner. Required skills -- casting on, knitting, purling, decreasing, using dpns and circular needles, knitting an i-cord.
