This Akabeni Pin cushion in vermilion red, represents the month of January - which in Japan is a time when everyone becomes excited by the beginning of the new year. Vermilion is a colour that is believed to be able to avert evil, is as brilliant as the sunrise on New Year's Day, and makes you feel a sense of vitality.
