This is an adorable seamless shrug that knits up in no time and uses very little yarn… Features a fun and easy textured pattern.
This shrug is knit from the back neck and shoulders to the underarms. The raglan cap sleeves are then bound off and the back stitches are worked together with stitches picked up along each front raglan (diagonal edge) to form the back and fronts of the body in one piece.
A great match for machine wash Mistral Merino 4ply yarn
Yarn:
Fingering/4ply/sock.
Meterage: Approximately 160 (183, 206, 229 // 251, 297, 320, 343) meters of fingering weight yarn.
Size: 3mo (6mo, 12mo, 18mo // 2yo, 4yo, 6yo, 8yo)
To fit chest sizes 40.5 (43, 45.5, 48.5 // 53.5, 58.5, 63.5, 67.5) cm.
Garment cross-back (from centres of underarms): 21.5 (24, 26.5, 28 // 30, 32, 33.5, 36) cm.
For the best fit, it is recommended you go by the child’s actual cross-back measurement rather than the age guideline when selecting the size.
Needles:
US 2 1/2 or 3mm circular needles or size needed to get stockinette gauge.
Note: garment is not knit in the round. Circular needles are needed because they hold all the stitches easily and because of their flexibility.
Notions: 2 stitch markers; tapestry needle; one 0.5-inch or 1.2cm diameter button
Gauge: 26 sts x 38 rows = 4 inches or 10cm in stockinette stitch.
